The Prismatic Array
An account of the teachings and convictions of the Prismatic Array
Overview
The Array is the foremost protector and distributor of the Arcane Arts in the Second Age of Zenith, founded on a basis of commonship between the elves and men, as well as a fusion of faith. They stand neutral on most political issues, at least at face value, but have been known to be more cunning and plotting than so. Their primary agenda often evolved elven supremacy through the acquisition of powerful magical knowledge or secrets.Throughout history, there have been many occasions, where this has proven to be the case. Like the formation of the Sanctioned Trinity around the Hespedarion Borderrealms, defeating the aristocratic and royal families baring their research. Despite this knowledge, their power only grows, as the need for what they keep grows larger and more important through the Empirical Eras. ‘’Can there exist a monopoly on something beyond our mortal coils? Does it not rest in the name of the Arcane that it remains, and will always remain a mystery? Those are the limits we test and push, not to achieve monopoly but for the betterment of all. We fear that the bent horizon of magical knowledge keeps many terrible dangers, and a time will come where we stand to lose all and everything should ambition be squandered…’’
Conviction & Belief:
While the Array is often looked upon as worshippers and followers of Mystra, they do in fact view her not as their deity and inspiration, but as their main obstacle. They believe that mortal kind - specifically elves - should inherit and overcome the divine seed, and so reach their true potential. They look upon the Gods as creatures that managed this a long time ago and through the acquisition of power and knowledge, they could be next. They see this as an absolute necessity of the cycles of life and cosmos, ascendency. And they are by no means fraught with ethical or moral dilemmas in their quest.Power Structure
