The Golden Ordeal
An account of the belief system and history of The Golden Ordeal
Overview
The Golden Ordeal are the protectors of the Ellisiat blood, knights of Hyperion, and Sunite faith keepers within the lands of the Ellisiat people dating as far back as Eos herself. They are known as one of the oldest orders in the world.Their leadership is known to be of ascended celestial blood, Aasamir’s, and beings like them, all strictly structured around the human race. ‘’Life is a trial and a test, an Ordeal of the highest standards. At every point, the sun threatens to burn us, as easily as it might uplift us. We can only hope to ascend in the eyes of its glory, without bearing the full weight of its strict gaze. We find comfort - should there be any - in the knowledge that the fiercer the flame burns, the higher they may reach, but also the quicker they fall to ash.’’
Conviction & Belief:
They believe themselves the heralds and guardians of the realms of Hyperion, keeping to the ideals of the Altar. Strength and Justice. They see other races as intruders upon Zenith and other human bloodlines as unpure and fractured from the whole. A person’s worth is measured by the burning fires that threaten to cinder his will should he fail to contain them. Strength and power are something to be wielded against the enemies of the faith, and equally respected as that which upholds the soul’s ability to rise in times of reckoning and trial. It is something that comes in its truest form through the joining of the masses, as easily as it withers through the selfishness and impurity of the individual. The Sunmaidens
An equally as prestigious holy order, and subsidiary of the Golden Ordeal, are the Sunmaidens. Who were carefully picked and chosen from amongst the faithful to server as honor guard to female rulers and religious idols. The had their start in history as the protectors of Eos, and would after her murder be cast in the shadow of dishonor for many generations. It was not until the late Shattered Flame Era that the Sunmaidens would get another chance to reclaim their honor and prestige, when they were tasked to serve the bloodline of Atheon and his three daughters. And of coures when Elision rose to power.
