Expedited Marriage
During the times of troubles in Pakani, marriages were expedited, first because of the short supply of ministers that had not been killed by the plague and tsunami, and then because of the need to unify families as bandits swept the countryside.– Amesire, Historian-General of the Society of Magisters
History
Marriages used to take months to arrange and weeks to celebrate, before the Dakuina (Great Storm). However, afterwards, due to the lessened population through Dakuina and the Plague of Pakani, villagers in Pakani sped up the process of marriage somewhat. They could not afford to waste precious resources on celebrating marriages, and these were thought to be a way to bond families against the threat of bandits, especially in the countryside.
Execution
The execution is done by a priest under a pavillion to Kali, the Bringer of Peace. Due to the destruction wrought by the storm, a full-scale temple has not been rebuilt, so marriages have to make do with a smaller pavillion. A priest to Kali utters the commandments of Kali, and after completing the recital, asks both husband and wife to swear the Oath of Peace, after which they are happily (sometimes) married.
