Sunberg Global Security

How's work at SGS? I can't really complain. The pay's good, the job's not too difficult, there's some great coworkers. Really, it's not the job's fault I'm drinking tonight.

Sunberg Global Security, abbreviated to SGS, is a small private military company operating on Asteria. It is among the smallest and less known PMCs operating in the region of New Calypso, and has achieved a global coverage only thanks to its flying headquarters, the SGS Peralta, and the connections of its CEO, Freja Sunberg. While it is among the smallest PMCs of the region, it recently made a name for itself thanks to numerous successful missions and experienced operators, as well as its ability to operate over the entire planet. Unfortunately, its slow response time and limited available manpower leaves it as a minor player at best on the defense market.

SGS employs ex-military personnel for both field operations and support operations, providing ways for army veterans to change smoothly into a civilian career. Naturally, civilians are also employed to cover various administrative work as well as some intelligence and management positions. Most employees are stationed on the SGS Peralta, an airship that regularly flies between the planet's largest cities for several days. This makes life at SGS more difficult for families, and much more lucrative for people without ties.

History

Founded in 370 by Freja Sunberg from personal funds, Sunberg Global Security is a relatively recent addition to the Asterian security and defense market. With only 13 years of activity, it slowly expanded its operations from an airship security agency to a more general security and intelligence gathering offer similar to its competitors. While successful enough to grow, SGS is by no means a well known or appreciated PMC, as its response capabilities remain limited.

Since 379, SGS also maintains seven branch offices in the largest cities to process requests from clients and employees alike. Some of these were damaged during the Asterian Insurrection and are still under repairs for some of them. These branch offices also serve as local bases of operations and store company vehicles and supplies should they ever be needed.

Headquarters

SGS Peralta

Perhaps the most notable feature of SGS, its headquarters are a flying airship that constantly patrols between the largest cities of Asteria. Originally built as a cargo and passenger transport airship, it has since been entirely remodeled into a formidable flying fortress and mobile base of operations. From its hangars, SGS teams leave for their assignments around the clock while supplies are delivered by air or land when the ship itself is docked.

Branch Offices

SGS maintains seven branch offices, one in each of the largest cities of Asteria, to receive and process client requests and dispatch local operators. They serve as both an administrative and an operational building, with at least two wings to properly separate both functions. During the Asterian Insurgency, some of these buildings were damaged and are still in repairs due to the low funds available to complete them.

Divisions

Logistics

Running a Private Military Company requires a constant supply of food, weapons and ammunitions, as well as vehicles, fuel and spare parts. All of these elements are procured and delivered to SGS offices thanks to the work of some 29 people dispatched throughout the company. These people handle the delivery and procurement of these supplies under the watchful eye of the Finance department.

Field Operations

As in any other PMC, Field Operations are the main source of revenue for SGS. The company currently employs some 26 operators divided into five teams. These teams vary in size, having from four to six operators each, and are often dispatched to branch offices to respond to the missions available in the region.

Intelligence

Intelligence gathering is also a source of revenue for SGS, and one that doesn't involve sending people on missions away from the company. Made of 12 people, the company's intelligence division handles all the intelligence gathering tasks, whether for a mission or in support of an ongoing operation. It is rumored to be a very harsh division to work in, as only a few people have the capability to join them and a lot of workload needs to be processed.

Administrative Functions

The remaining 60 employees are working in various administrative roles such as Human Resources or Finances, tasks which are imperative for a company but do not generate any revenue. Included in this division are the "Handlers" that coordinate the efforts of the Field Operations teams and Intelligence division, as well as client-facing negotiations and contract management.

Services

Security Services

The most common missions given to SGS fall under this category and are of various types, such as escort, search and rescue or even containment of assets. These missions are often negotiated first by a handler and then assigned to a field operations team to be properly processed.

Intelligence Services

Up until recently, SGS only offered security services. Since the Asterian Insurgency, however, SGS branched out and now offers intelligence gathering capabilities for its clients. Initially used to support its field operations teams, the intelligence division now has its own contracts to manage as well, though handlers still perform all of the client-facing tasks.
