Sargoss Land Systems NK-340 'Strider'
We've spotted a convoy, stolen Striders. Whatever they're transporting, it's big.
The NK-340 'Strider' is a series of eight-wheel drive, fuel cell powered, 12-ton tactical trucks designed and manufactured by Sargoss Land Systems. Like its smaller cousin the NK-330 Conveyor, the Strider first entered service in 364 and currently serves as the heavy lifter of the Vestan Defense Forces for their logistic needs. It also remains in production to this day, with more than 35 000 units built and overhauled over time.
As with the Conveyor, the Strider has served for nearly two decades and will continue to serve for many more years thanks to its adaptable hull and powerful fuel cell array. Its large payload capacity and high mobility has, so far, answered every requirement from the military, making any thought of a replacement superfluous. In addition to excellent performances, the vehicle itself is well appreciated by crew members and engineers alike, thanks to all the latest technologies installed in the most recent generation.
History
Development
The NK-340 was developped as an extension of the NK-330, a heavier variant to carry the larger loads of the military. While the NK-340 offered nothing new to the table, if not a slightly better power plant, the fact that it shared 90% of its components with the smaller NK-330 meant that by adopting a single package, two entire fleets of vehicles would be replaced by a single family, greatly simplifying logistics and maintenance for these vehicles. This was the deciding factor for the military, who officially adopted the NK-330 and NK-340 series in 364, after a year of field testing.
Recent History
The NK-340 performed as expected for a heavy truck, carrying loads that the NK-330 could not. While its offroad performances weren't ideal, the NK-340 supported the military engineers in charge of expanding Asteria's road network without any severe complications. During the Asterian Insurrection, some of these vehicles were stolen by the Dominion and adapted into mobile missile launch platforms. The idea remained after the insurrection and some dedicated variants were designed and tested, but so far none have been officially adopted by the military, as their role overlap with the Warden's own variants.
