Convergence Station
Convergence Station Control to all nearby ships, we are at T minus three minutes to ignition, stand-by for transition.
Convergence Station is a massive space station built around an equally massive Dawson-Sirenko-Mayer singularity generator. Consisting of an array of 16 linear particle accelerators and 8 high-yield fusion reactors, Convergence Station is by far the single most expensive construction project undertaken by MINERVA. It was, however, the most powerful DSM singularity generator ever built, even to this day, as its range covers most of the Elysian Star Cluster.
The construction of Convergence Station was initiated to enable the colonization of Ceryx and accelerate the exploration of Elysium, creating a central hub capable of sending ships to nearly any destination. Naturally, the station was also meant as a source of income by taxing every transition that passed through it. Unfortunately, the project itself ran into some development issues, costing more than five times its initial budget, severely depleting MINERVA's treasury.
Nonetheless, the station became operational in 167, nearly 21 years after its construction began. Its first use was to send a fleet of automated ships to the Ceryx system to prepare it for human colonization, though many others soon followed to explore all corners of Elysium. While the station was prohibitively expensive to construct, many believe it was a necessary investment for the advancement of all Mankind. It would take nearly half a century for Convergence Station to turn a profit, however, despite the large traffic it handled during all these years.
