Session 7 Report: Decisions and Consequences
General Summary
Picking up from the last session, the party faces a Troll that charges the temple from the far forest. During the fight a stone giant emerges from underneath the temple grounds and attacks the Pale Fangs warriors.
After the fight, a secret chamber underneath the ruins is revealed. In the round chamber the walls depict murals of Ataiyo as Brunhilst explains to the party. While exploring, Brokkr hears a familiar voice calling to him, and is compelled to follow it. He is led through an illusionary wall and reaches a small room with magical arm wraps residing on a pedestal. Furthermore, a heap of gold is found by the party in these ruins.
Brunhilst pulls the party apart and congratulates them on the success of the mission. Her next action will be to return to Goldcrest to report back to Istor Icefang. Meanwhile, the party is supposed to explore the neverrane plateau to search for other cultist activity and ways to empower their fight against the Rebirth Conclave. They have three routes they could follow:
- Pelaris in the Northeast, They heard that there is another cult outpost nearby led by a Tiefling called Zara
- Duchare in the North, A town close to lake Neverrane that suffers from strange magic and cases of missing persons.
- Abandoned Mage Tower, A tower in the Shimmerpeaks south of Farholm
As they encroached the premise, they stand in front of a massive stone tower at the edge of the mountain chain overlooking the plateau. The Iron door is shut and unmoving. There are runes inscribed on the door and a little chime hanging above the frame. As they gather from nearby scribbles and notes, the door only opens after playing a certain succession of notes, which they guess correctly after some tries.
Inside, the tower springs to live when the lights flicker on and faint music is heard emitting from the walls. The first room they enter features a smashed orrery in the centre and two strange creatures with massive eyes investigating them from afar. Anhiri is quick to scare them away, however. They figure out that there are some gears missing from the orrery, and Misa manages to find two of them. Brokkr in his ingenuity crafts up the missing gear and sets them in place. The planets of the machine align and open a hidden stash of magical items.
