Northern Suns Federation

Kaori has always been a nation of great wealth and technology, even from its ancient days in the past. Positioned in an ideal spot in the center of the world, so to speak, it has been a hub of trade and advancement. Ideas and cultures would frequently mix together, and the Kaori people have sought to adapt to changing times. When it became clear that the world's reserves of oil were soon to dry up, they were quick to act.   Bearing the world's largest population of powered individuals and magic users, they were able to make incredible use of their superhuman workforce to rapidly construct a space elevator to support them going into the future. As other nations began to run out of resources, Kaori reached out to join together and lift them up. A strong belief of working together, co-operation, and a community-focused mindset guided them, believing that a rising tide will lift all ships. Each nation that joined them was not subserviant, but a valued member of the growing federation that were afforded a voice of their own.
Northerners are a striking mix of population, and it can be quite difficult to pin down any one defining characteristics. However, a commonly shared belief is a focus on unity with one's fellows. By working together and trying to understand, each piece can come together to make a greater whole.   Those originating from the heart of the Federation, Kaori, they are often of shorter stature, with olive or pale complexion, almond-shaped eyes, and black hair. A naming convention among them is to place their family name first, and given name second, as a sign of respect to one's family and recognition of those that came before them.   Those from the nearby nation of Ugalar are often tanned with dark hair and a typically independent-focused disposition, believing they need to be respected and heard to prove they are no one's servant. They often speak loudly and are viewed as eccentric, but none can deny that their pride is not without warrant as they have beaten back invaders time and again.   Ethyerians are generally fair-skinned, with a wide range of hair colors and an equal cultural focus on both the arts and warfare, with each often being entwined with one another. They are often attributed as the greatest producers of wine. Though the nation is no longer the grand, continent-spanning empire it once was, the pride of its people in their heritage still remains.   Ushkans are an often insular and rugged people, distrustful of outsiders and careful guardians of secrets. They are generally pale with a variety of hair colors, and of larger, muscular stature compared to the rest of the world. Ushka was and still is a producer of both the greatest vodkas and weaponry in the Federation.   Kanatans are typically very in-tune with nature, dedicating much of themselves to nurturing the lands around them and mastering shamanistic magic. Many of Kanata's powered and magic users develop abilities focused on controlling the elements and healing, and the old nation itself focuses much on its naval efforts. The population of Kanata is often quite mixed, resulting from colonials from foreign nations and its own aboriginal peoples mingling for generations. A strange quirk that developed as a result of the Rising Suns Federation being formed, was that they were united with a nearby collection of city states formerly known as the Hawken City States, a once-collapsed government that remained vaguely together from biker gangs forming a collection of small city states. The motorcycle culture has spread across Kanata, with its Mounties adopting quite a lot of it as the small vehicles worked well in the wilds.
Northerner technology is largely focused on integrating magic with technology. Jewel Mages see a great deal of employment in the Northern Suns Federation, and magitech focused on integration of Anima is the most common sight. A strong aesthetic is a mixture of ancient cultures and natural elements with modern functionality such as vibro-blade katanas, robotic mounts styled after a moose, and powered armor styled after knightly plate-mail. Anima is almost always prominently used, proudly displaying the magical nature of their items with brilliant crystals and shimmering calligraphy.
