Eldath, The Quiet One
Eldath (pronounced: /ˈɛldæθ/ EL-dæth) is also known as The Green Goddess, Mother Guardian of Groves, or the Mother of the Waters.
In Awsranka, a traveler from Faerun would be surprised to find stone temples, large ones even, dedicated to the goddess, and attended by a majority of the population. Eldath’s cult was the state religion of the Red Empire, and even after the empire fell, the veneration of Eldath continued. Currently the church is dominated by the Stillwater priests and their doctrines.
Grytack is no exception. The main temple on Victory square is primarily dedicated to Eldath. There are only two full time priests in Grytack, both of Eldath’s Stillwaters.
Eldath normally appeares in a 10 ft (3 m) tall female form, but the details vary. Depictions in religious art and known appearances had her as a human, wild elf, sea elf, dryad, and nereid. She is tall, thin, graceful, beautiful, and her form is always translucent enough to be seen through at all times. Sometimes she was said to have dark hair while at others her hair was colorless like water, and seemed more like spun glass or flowing ice; as a dryad or wild elf, her hair was blue and green. Her eyes are a deep shade of green.
Eldath's feet are bare and her green, silken, shimmering garments cling to her form as they flow, yet her appearance soothes rather than arouses lustful feelings.
