Chauntea, The Great Mother

Awsranka is a large region with an economy largely dependent on agriculture. Naturally, the Great Mother is honored here. There are temples dedicated to her, and many of the ranches and village granges have shrines dedicated to her veneration. Of course, the cultures that settled in Awsranka were not accustomed to the local dieties. Although they had lost touch with the dieties of their home dimension, they modified and combined their theologies to promote a connection to the "new" pantheon. Among Phastians (the first refugee group to arrivein about 1450 BCE), Chauntea is considered the local representitive of Gaia and Demeter. Ostians approached her as Freya - more traditional ostians include Frey, and give Chauntea a rather androgenous tone, but this is considered outdated.
In Grytack, Chauntea is honored at a shrine next to Eldath’s Temple on the east. One wonders if both goddesses find this a bit awkward.
