Reflectants

In al-A'laa min al-Asfal, wal-Asfal min al-A'laa.
A Reflectant is an alternate-reality counterpart of oneself. There is a Reflectant in each Dimension, different depending on the World they are in.     For example: the James of Dimension I has twenty-four Reflectants, as there are twenty-five Dimensional planes in total (five in each World). To the James of Dimension III, Dimension I James would be a Reflectant, but Dimension I James would subjectively consider himself the "original" James and all others his "copies."     There is a theory of a "Prime" Reflectant whose death would result in the deaths of all their Reflectants, but this is unproven.     Eighteen Reflectants form the Council of Jameses.

How Reflectants Work - by Theobald Quarterpiece

Salutations, students. In today's seminar we'll be discussing Reflectants, also called Doublegangers, Proteans, Fetches or Echoreflectants.     Firstly, some context. As you know from our last lesson there are about twenty-five Dimensional planes, five in each of the Worlds, which are organized like discs of the same size occupying the same space. A concept not easy to grasp, certainly, but then again Creation was never produced for our understanding. What little information we have about the Dimensions was given to us by Gwapra-tseng quantum physicists, although I personally wouldn't take every word a fox-spirit says at face value.     (Next slide)     Each Dimension is essentially a copy of the others. The same planets, galaxies, stars, et cetera. Each plane even has its own version of Earth, called a Mirror Earth or Anti-Chthon. Our Earth is in Dimension XVII, and all other Earths would be Anti-Chthones to us.     A Reflectant is the result of the same conditions for life occurring on each planet. Meaning, the reason there is a version of me in every Dimension, and a version of all of you, is because the Planet Earths in those Dimensions developed the same way, experienced the same events that shaped life, and so forth. What makes our Reflectants different is the interference of entities of a higher evolutionary level, which we will cover in the next session.     My Reflectants in some Dimensions might resemble animals or have non-human forms because an invasive entity manipulated time and genetics to their liking. In some Dimensions my Reflectants may already be dead or are yet to be born. Some might be human, some not. The point is, they are all me in theory. And your Reflectants are all you, permutated across time and space. Each planet with life will also assumedly have Reflectants of some kind.     (The Professor continues explaining. Richard, his best student, observes and takes notes enthusiastically).     Well, it seems our time for today is done. Feel free to email me any questions, including ones about your upcoming assignment. The slideshow and readings for the week will be in the cloud as usual.
