Star Signs
When a creature is born on the Material Plane, the day of its birth is fundamentally tied to the cyclical movement of the cosmos, such as the waxing and waning of Luna. Another such cycle is that of the four seasons, each of which are split into roughly three parts that the people of Uferlos incorporated into their calendar. For each of these twelve months, the night sky is dominated by one of the great constellations, which are theorized to be living beings, sentient but neutral in the grand scheme of things. Many mortal cultures share the same belief that the constellation under which a creature is born will shape their destiny for the rest of their lives, though, there’s no direct evidence to prove (or disprove) this to be true.
[GM Note: Regardless of your opinion, it is obvious that the TTRPG concept of alignment is going the way of the dodo. However, since I personally like having a system of guidelines when making characters, I created the 12 Star Signs to fill the vacuum of the 9 Alignments. During character creation, choose a constellation that best fits your character’s personality, then choose a day in its corresponding month to be their birthday. If you don’t see a constellation that fits your character, just choose a month and day at random.]
The Wolf
Spirit of Vintermont
While typically outgoing, those born under the sign of the Wolf are known to value their independence, inspiring others to do the same as they stand up for their beliefs and make their voices heard. However, they can also be aloof and temperamental when met with any resistance to their unwavering convictions, whether justified or not.
The Ram
Spirit of Wundemont
Often courageous, passionate, and determined, those born under the sign of the Ram are natural leaders, even if they seem reserved at first impression. However, their impulsive nature and desire to prove themselves can sometimes put them in unnecessary danger, which they prefer to solve quickly and by whatever means necessary.
The Hare
Spirit of Ostermont
Said to be the luckiest of the constellations, those born under the sign of the Hare are bound for success in almost any endeavor that they choose to put their minds toward. While their attention to detail can make them into great artists, they are typically resistant to change, and any criticism can cause them to become disheartened.
The Eagle
Spirit of Lenzmont
Those born under the sign of the Eagle are known to seek glory and fulfillment in their lives, be it through interpersonal relationships, their jobs, or through adventurous new experiences. Oftentimes, however, they can be so determined to make their mark upon the world that they ignore their responsibilities and the ones who care about them.
The Bull
Spirit of Mabelmont
Those born under the sign of the Bull are often patient, hard-working individuals that are unwaveringly dedicated in their work toward changing the world with their own two hands. This can often lead them to be stubborn, butting heads with those who oppose them, or even turning to violence when things don’t go exactly as they planned.
The Snake
Spirit of Adalmont
Those born under the sign of the Snake are typically charming, well-spoken, and composed, fulfilling their duties with a guileful finesse and taking any secrets that are shared with them to the grave. Yet they can often be private to the point of intimidating, and their knack for keeping secrets can often lead others to question their motives.
The Fish
Spirit of Somermont
Those born under the sign of the Fish rarely lose their way in life, and are known for their spirituality and for their seemingly insatiable desire to see and explore the world with reckless abandon. Others often misconstrue their enthusiasm and wanderlust for flightiness, however, so they typically struggle to maintain long-term relationships.
The Lion
Spirit of Dorrmont
Preferring to be the center of attention or in some position of authority at all times, those born under the sign of the Lion exude confidence, creativity, and charisma. Their magnetic personalities can lead them to be arrogant, however, and their need for control sometimes rubs actual authority figures the wrong way, leading to further conflict.
The Boar
Spirit of Gilbharmont
Those born under the sign of the Boar are known to be incredibly family-oriented, whether chosen or related by blood, and are willing to defend the ones they love until the bitter end. With a worldview that borders on naïve at times, their dedication can often get them into trouble or leave them with a broken heart when others act selfishly.
The Turtle
Spirit of Haustmont
Those born under the sign of the Turtle are known to possess great patience and tenacity, which can get them far within the tightknit communities that they often find themselves a part of. Their persuasive abilities can cause others to doubt their sincerity, however, leading them to close themselves off out of a deep fear of being rejected.
The Stag
Spirit of Eiligmont
Loyalty is the hallmark of anyone born under the sign of the Stag, and it is this, as well as a gentle but curious nature, that lets them juggle a multitude of equally meaningful relationships at once. But even with many friends, they can easily become bored or ungrounded, often struggling with anxiety and self-acceptance when stressed.
The Bear
Spirit of Frimasmont
Vigilance and self-control are common characteristics of those born under the sign of the Bear, their demeanor often quiet and thoughtful as they prefer to observe rather than interact with others. Though somewhat shy, they don’t take kindly to betrayal or dishonesty, and if pushed to their limit, their temper is truly fearsome to behold.
