Elves
Agile, graceful and long-lived, elves are one of the most common of the Reborn Races, matched in population only by orcs.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Elves resemble the humans of the Old World in most ways, but with sharply pointed ears and a typically a more slender build (although this is not universal). In addition, elven eyes (irises) occur in a far wider variety of colors than human ones ever did - even bright purples, yellows and reds.
Genetics and Reproduction
Elves reproduce similar to humans, albeit with a longer gestation period - 13 months as opposed to 9.
Growth Rate & Stages
Elves, somewhat proportionate to their long lifespan, grow slowly. Beginning puberty at around age 23 for males and 19 for females, they do not reach adulthood until around the age of 35.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Elves have decent hearing and eyesight superior to that of humans, especially in low light. They also have a heightened sense of proprioception, a trait that lends itself to agility, balance, and graceful movement.
Civilization and Culture
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Elves are the most cosmopolitan of the Reborn, the most inclined to form city-states and organized societies. elven-founded cities tend to attract immigrants of all races until they become truly multicultural, and are the primary bastions of civilization in the post-Return world.
Unlike Lizardfolk or fey, there don't appear to be many common cultural threads found among disparate elven ethnicities and cultures; they're just as diverse as human cultures once were.
