Indus, The Divine Builder
Indus is the god of building, creating, and the earth. Once he was a titan, dedicated to serving Genesis, before the events of the Second Calamity occurred, and Genesis went insane. In the conflict against Genesis, he gained a sliver of divinity, and ascended to godhood. He appears as a large man ornately carved from stone, covered in molten gold, with a fiery flow in his eyes.
Indus teaches that the it is the duty of each generation to prepare the world for those who will follow. Society is built upon the foundation that was left behind by the previous generation. As each generation works and grows they strengthen that foundation, and leave it even stronger for their descendants. Whether this is in the form of buildings, infrastructure, governmental systems, ridding the world of a potential evil or signing a treaty to build a lasting peace, each person should find a way to contribute something to pass on. Indus also encourages patience, and developing the skills needed to do a job correctly. Things should be created to last, as a house that collapses is not only something not worth passing on, but it is potentially an active danger to those who receive it. Indus dreams of one day repairing the damage dealt to the world in the Third Calamity, of one day allowing the Lands Above to return to the ground, and to fix the foundation that the whole world was built upon in the past. His church is one of the primary sponsors of research into the Lands Below, and expeditions in search of lost knowledge.
Indus is a popular deity for many craftspeople, and it is thought that a craftsperson whose tools and work is blessed by Indus will make creations that can last a lifetime. Many famous smiths have Indus's symbol on the back of their hammers, and in many places it is a tradition to put his symbol on one brick or log used in the construction of a building.
