Changeling
Changelings are shape-shifting beings, both revered and feared depending on the region. Their supernatural ability to change their appearance at will makes them highly adaptable, but it also causes suspicion. In Flux Province, changelings are viewed as invaluable assets—symbols of flexibility and self-expression. However, in Shield Province, their powers are met with distrust and even hostility, as their ability to deceive and manipulate puts them at odds with the strict anti-magic stance of the province.
In their true form, changelings appear almost featureless, a blank canvas. But it is rare to see them in this state, as most changelings spend their lives wearing masks—artificial identities that they craft for specific purposes. Some changelings only wear fleeting masks, altering their appearance for a single encounter, while others develop entire personas that they adopt for years, taking on roles with deep backstories and histories.
Whether they are engaging in diplomacy, trickery, or adventure, changelings’ ability to shape-shift makes them both mysterious and dangerous. In Flux, they are celebrated for this power, but in Shield, they are often hunted for it.
