Planvania
Planvania is considered one of, if not the oldest, of the Realms, easily able to trace it's history back a thousand years before the first portals. Within its borders resides one of the portals made by one of the High Archmagus, connecting to Tushaula, as well as six others made by various groups afterwards.
Claiming the city of Unfyre as it's capital, Planvania resides on a peninsula of the main continent, it's name lost to the chaos of the Convergence.
Scarred by the callous cruelty of uncaring kings and mad emperors, Planvania is ruled by an elected official known as a Chancellor. This official is often someone of well-renown, having aided the people in some way. A new Chancellor is elected after fifty years, death or the old one steps down.
Laws are written by the Council of Clans, detailing both acceptable punishment and immoral crimes. The Council advises the Chancellor as well, often providing them with insight into how the people feel about the current rule. It is also the Council that can declare a Chancellor's forced resignation.
Judges are the arbiters of the law, often raised from birth for the position, although more then once in Planvania's history has a Judge have to step back and let another take their place. The current number of Judges is never truly known, as many travel both Planvania and other Realms to either hunt down runaways or to address a law-breaking.
Due to pride in containing one of the most complete pre-Convergence libraries, education is held in quite high regard, with children being required to attend schooling up until ten years of age, after which they either start apprenticeships or go to trade schools. Depending on the town however, some chose not to pursue more education and instead take up the family tradition.
While far from the most religious of the Realms, there are a few main religions found in Planvania, including the Eight New Gods, Elementalism and the continued practices of pre-Realm Were.
