Simic Hybrids
'I... think I had a husband. I don't know, it's all quite faint, really. I remember them cutting the gills into me, quite clearly. And sewing the fins to my arms. They called me... Number Fifteen. It was far from any sunlight, lit in murky green. I think there were others like me, I don't know. I'm just glad it's stopped hurting now.' - Fifteen, recently found Simic hybridThe Simic College of the Immortal City was once one of the finest bastions of magical education in the Old World. Its lessons focused on manipulating the vital essence of mortals, to strengthen their bodies and mend their wounds. That is, until the hybrids came to light - the professors and students were experimenting on kidnapped people, splicing their bodies with those of animals, giving them gills and claws or hardened skin and venom glands. The people of the city rioted against the college, burning it to its foundation and executing all those experimenters. The hybrids themselves were taken in by local residents, cared for until their expiry. This was centuries ago, and yet, sometimes a Simic hybrid still appears. Whether some survived the College's downfall, or some madmen have recreated their foul methods, none can say.
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
Simic hybrids are generally much hardier than other members of their original race, and may have adaptations that make them eminently suited to one environment or another. Gills, for example, are not uncommon.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Simic hybrids have similar dietary needs to other members of their original race, but this may also be affected by their modifications.
Biological Cycle
A 'newborn' Simic hybrid has not been recorded, but they appear to grow and age more quickly than other members of their original race. Notably, they are all apparently sterile, with none on record having sired children.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Similar to those of their original race, although the modifications may lead to changes.

Naming Traditions
Simic hybrids typically have no memory of their creation, and are thus given names by those who find them or take names for themselves. Some, however, recall being referred to by designations more akin to those given to experiments than names.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Simic hybrids typically speak the languages of their original race.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Simic hybrids are typically treaty with pity by those of other races who know the history of the Simic College, but may also be distrusted for their apparently monstrous appearance.
Lifespan
Shorter than their original race
Average Height
Similar to their original race
Average Weight
Similar to their original race
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Notably, Simic hybrids often have a green-blue tint to their skin.
