Dala'Ros Lorethin

Custodians of Ancient Knowledge

The realm of Lorian's history is rife with turmoil, struggle, and bloodshed. Whether it be the petty squabbles of long dead landed nobles or the near world ending war of the Ascended the realm is seemingly in a never ending cycle of destruction and recreation. However while this may appear to be the most defining rule of Lorian there is seemingly a single exception. Dala'Ros Lorethin is the lone city that managed to fend off the onslaught and chaos of the previous age. Because of this while others were forced to rebuild the arcanists of Dala'Ros Lorethin instead seized the opportunity to sure up their enchanted lands. While most expected the mage city to attempt some sort of power grab as the realm's only remaining seat of power the reclusive mages did nearly the total opposite. The towering stone gates of the city were closed and locked as tightly as a vault. Two large forests sprung up practically over night as if to deter outsiders from even daring to approach. For nearly fifty years after the end of the Age of Ascension the mage city was silent to any and all outsiders. However on the first day of Spring almost to the day of the anniversary of Dala'Ros Lorethin's gates closing they opened once again. Soon after streaks of arcane magic could be seen arcing across the sky as if propelled from the city itself. Ambassadors appeared from the warded forests to speak with the remaining townsfolk and near by villages, seemingly extending an olive branch of protection in exchange for the valuable resources of crops and cattle that the farmlands could provide. And so without pageantry or acclaim the oldest remaining city in all of Lorian resumed its daily life as though nothing had changed.    Even with all of the mage cities bluster and posturing it is undeniable that there is no better place to truly study the arcane arts. Due to its seemingly endless capability for self-sustainability Dala'Ros Lorethin has little in the way of outreach or presence beyond the closely guarded peninsula where it resides. Though it is perhaps unsurprising that as the years passed and the world recovered travelers began to flock to the ancient city. However Dala'Ros seemed resolute in limiting access within its walls, allowing none but the representatives of the oldest and most powerful bloodlines from the Age of Ascension if said representatives could prove their lineage of course. It took nearly five years after the city's reawakening before travelers were allowed past the first wards of the city's protection. Slowly over time the Trinity, the three Archmages who rule over Dala'Ros began to selectively communicate with their fellow immerging societies across the realm. In an attempt to forge alliances, tenuous as they may be, the mage city began to take on apprentices and students, granting outsiders access to the only remaining college of arcane study left in the realm. Of course such a privilage was not free, in fact only those who bore a particularly well known and influential family ties or great wealth are even granted the chance for admittance. Such a restrictive practice as slowly begun to change over time however, allowing for the particularly ambitious or skilled commoner to seek sponsorship from an accredited arcanist so that they too are given the chance to study the arcane arts in the truest of ways. The ways that only Dala'Ros Lorethin possess.

Map Key

1. Makarsindor Plaza

Named for the original Elven benefactor House Makarsindor the Makarsindor Plaza is home to the most skilled craftsmen and finest shops in all of Dala'Ros Lorethin. Though rare to see beyond the walls of the city itself if an item holds the mark of one of the master makers of Dala'Ros Lorethin it's worth is said to easily double by meret of association alone.

2. The Ember Garden

Unlike the lesser and more uncivilized so called great cities found throughout Lorian Dala'Ros Lorethin's beauty is not hindered by something so pedestrian as seasonal weather. This is no more apparent in the illustrious Ember Garden surrounding Mazegirth Academy in the very heart of the city. Here the plant life is always in bloom and a warm, welcoming breeze is of course expected.

3. Mazegift Academy

Previously known as the Arclight Academy its name was changed when upon his death the great Ascended and Archmagis Kalder Maze bequeathed his blessed tome of spellcraft back to the beloved city who birthed him. In this modern era the Mazegift Academy is the singular option for higher education in spell craft. Throughout this age and well before this academy has trained countless arcanists of great power and capability.

4. Lorketh Harbor

Thought Lorketh Harbor is the newest renovation to the city having only been constructed in the last ten years or so it sees surprisingly little use beyond the ferrying of dignitaries and of course the odd Sea Reaver vessel sent on behalf of Grienstock.

5. The Lower Ward

Thought it is thought that the city of Dala'Ros Lorethin is home exclusively to those who possess great arcane potential and power that is simply a misconception from outsiders. The Lower Ward houses the common folk and workers needed to insure the mundane aspects of the great mage city is well maintained.

6. Stallwald

While there are surely countless individuals of varying worth and ability who would seek entrance into the great city of Dala'Ros Lorethin all must be vetted and vetted they are within Stallwald, the small village sized buffer in between the outside world and the hopeful commoner.

7. Farmer's Vet

Though it is of course quite possible to feed ones self with the correct magical application such would take a great deal of time and resources from capable arcanists which could surely be better spent. Thus the City of Dala'Ros Lorethin graciously offers protection and aid to the near by villages that dwell within its buffer forests in exchange from produce and meat. While outsiders are sent to Stallwald to await evaluation specifically selected representatives of the common folk are granted access to the Farmer's Vet to insure punctual and timely delivery of supply.
