Aasimar and Tiefling of Lorian

Aasimar and Tiefling within the world of Lorian. However unlike their mainline Dungeon and Dragons 5e counterparts neither can be considered their own 'race', but rather a sub-race linked to any and all other races in the realm of Lorian. While it is certainly possible to play or encounter a more traditional Aasimar or Tiefling in appearance this would most likely mean that character was born to a human bloodline. With this in mind there are members of both races that more closely resemble their parentage be that Dwarven, Elvish, Orcish, or otherwise. Much like the Half-Orcs and Half-Elves the Tiefling and Aasimar are also considered a mixing of bloodlines. However rather than a merging of two races Tiefling and Aasimar instead come about seemingly at random. There is potential for either to be born so long as one or more parent was sworn to an Ascended, giving any child who shares that bloodline a small chance to gain traits to resemble that particular Ascended.   For example A Dwarven Aasimar of Myrith may posses deep golden eyes and manifest a burning halo when pushed too far in times of stress. While a Gnomish Tiefling of Balon might bare blacked fingernails and a long whip like tail. This is meant to allow for more diverse and interesting aesthetic options for both Aasimar and Tiefling respectively by mixing an already iconic appearance with otherwise unrelated races.

Alternate Racial Traits and Options

While the Aasimar and Tiefling changes in the realm of Lorian are largely intended to be more superficial this does potentially open the door for a more unique character creation process. For example if a Dwarven Aasimar wanted to forgo their "Celestial Resistance" trait to instead take the "Drwarven Resilience" trait from the Dwarf core race this would be allowed. However such exchanges and alterations are limited to the core race only meaning no Aasimar/Tiefling traits could be exchanged for traits from a sub-race. If this option interests you please be sure to consult with your dungeon master before making any changes to the default racial templates provided in the D&D 5e official books.

Familiar Names In Unfamiliar Skin

The realm of Lorian is home to two siblings with names that travelers from afar will surely know. However the details of their birth, life, and even death may differ from the stories learned in other lands. While on the surface some known as Tiefling and Aasimar may seem similar to what one is familiar with there are several more that appear and exist entirely differently from the traditional tales.

Alignment Restriction

An Aasimar player must hold a Lawful alignment. A Teifling player must hold a Chaotic alignment
