Northern Elvish

The official language of Vanaheim and Svartalfheim, and spoken by some in the borderlands of Alfheim and Jotunheim. Northern Elvish is a dialect of Common Elvish, and a cousin to Southern Elvish, with many words in common, and both have a musical quality, but Northern speech is marked by occasional harsh, sharp consonants interspersed with a depth and thrum comparable to a bow on the lower strings of a large stringed instrument, or the deep warning growl of a feline predator hunting you in the forest. While plenty of Day Elves can understand and even speak the language, rare is the southerner who can nail the accent.

There is a harsh poetry to Northern Elvish, like Russian or the French Canadian fur traders or centuries past.
