Sky Peaks

Where the Sky and the Earth become one

The Sky Peaks are a mountain range inhabited by Dwarves and filled with mountains of treasures. It is controlled mostly by the Kahr Kingdom, but you can still find all kinds of monsters and ruins in these mountains. The riches of the Kahr Kingdom attract loads of unwanted attention, as they say. The Kahr Kingdom is so rich, because in Sky Peaks you can find allot of really valuable resources.   It became a mountain range by techtonic plates pushing against each other. These Techtonic Plates are the Plate of Silmar (The main Body of it) and the plate of Timrrada. This was previously a lone island, but since then it has collided and become one with the island of Silmar. Now, it's one island with an enormous mountain range in between what was once it's borders to the sea.   It is the highest mountain range in the Reach. It tops almost always reach the Clouds, from there the name Sky Peaks. Sky Peaks is also seen, thanks to it's hight, as a highly spiritual place where you can get really near to the gods. Whenever you are on one of the Peaks in Sky Peaks, you'll get a +5 when rolling to communicate with a god. Still, The inhabitants of the Sky Peaks, the inhabitants of the Kahr Kingdom, Dwarves, aren't so much into religeon. This doesn't mean that they don't think the gods exist, of course they do, but instead they think that gods are less important then the world around them. By people who haven't seen it, it is said to be the place where you can walk to the sky, and from there you would be able to walk on clouds. This has disappointed many people and caused many deaths.   Another Legend from Sky Peaks, is that somewhere in the Sky Peaks there is an enourmous crystall ball, This ball is built completaly out of Sphalerite and it controls a special magic known as Sky Magic. According to legend, this 'Sky Magic' has the power to heal people from incredible wounds. This Crystal Ball is known as one of the Three Skystones. Many Intelligent Beings have searched for this Crystal, and many have returned empty handed. Even More, including mostly Elves have vanished in these mountains. Many of these have seen to have died, but many Elves are seen to be still alive and living in happiness, even though they never returned to their Homeland and Families. It is said that these elves have found the crystal and that they're controlling it's power. One man, Gomrren, has said he saw an enormous tower holding the crystal, before fleeing and (by pure luck) coming out alive. According to the people that believe in this myth, this tower is known as the Skystone Citadel. Where this tower was, Gomrren had magically forgotten, but he has said it existed. Gomrren then died a 'natural' death, but some say he died because Sky Magic can also kill someone, but this theory is almost completely dead and the only way to know about this theory is reading it in an old book.   Now, putting some fact into the theory, This tower does actually exist. It is known as the Skystone Citadel, and around it is a thriving city. This is a completely high-elven city, and if anyone else were to see it that wasn't a high-elf, they would probably instantly get killed. This is because these High-Elves are trying to keep it a secret. This is because the crystal is incredibly powerful, but just not in the way that Legends say it to be. This crystal is not made out of pure Sphalerite, nor can it be controlled. It was made before the beginning of time by the gods (You might be sitting here, there is no way something can happen before time. But, actually it can. The things that happen before time just exist when time starts ticking. There is no order in which these were done, because they all happened at the same time.) The enormous crystal is actually one of The Three Skystones. This means that this crystal is one of the three points where Winds of Magic of the Sky come from. This also means that around this crystal these winds of Magic are much, much stronger, so users of the Winds of Magic of the Sky get incredible buffs when fighting around it. This is also why High-Elves, which btw are users of the Winds of magic of the Sky for if you didn't know yet, want to find this crystal. It also explains why people thought it was a completely different magic, which they called Sky Magic.   Out of the mountains of Sky Peaks, you can find allot of different rivers. The biggest three are the Dunrreda River, that flows through the Dunrreda Plains, The Great river, that flows through all that was once Timrrada, and the Breathless River, that flows through the Silmar Desert with it's high quantities of undead.

Geography

Sky Peaks is a young mountain range. This means that it's peaks are still high and pointy. Young mountain ranges are mountain ranges made in the last 65 million years. Old mountain ranges are mountain ranges made before that. Old mountain ranges are mostly flat and there isn't much left of them. Young mountain ranges are mostly pointy, high and in some cases still growing. Being a young mountain range, there are many beautiful mountains that you can view and climb (Ok, yes, I'm stealing this from the real world... but really who cares? All this science stuff.. it'd take way to long to think of something myself... which is why I'll probably do it someday, but not today. And really, I make pretty much everything else up myself... so I'd say it's OK to steal something like this...).   It is the highest mountain range in the Reach. It tops almost always reach the Clouds, from there the name Sky Peaks. The tops go between 7 to 12 kilometers high (around 22300 to 40000 feet). There are many steeps cliffs in Sky Peaks, and falling off will almost always cause death. This means that is you fall off, you roll a DC 25, DC 20 or DC 15 Constitution check (depends on the height) to see if you survive. If you succeed, your HP goes to 1. If you fail by one to five, your HP goes to 0 (so you'll have to make survival checks). If you fail by even more, you'll just die.   Even though there are many big mountains in Sky Peaks, it's not the only thing you can find. There are also Valleys filled with life, enormous Caverns, Plateaus filled with all kinds of creatures, and Ravines that go so deep you can't reach the bottom. There are many Ravines in The Reach, but the deepest can be found in Sky Peaks. These are the Kahredan Ravines, these ravines are so deep, that when dropping something down, you can't hear it reach the bottom. Many Wizards and Warlocks have tried many things and many spells, but in the end, no-one has figured out what can be found on the bottom of these ravines and how deep it is. According to legend, there were some mystical creatures who entered The Reach out of these Caverns. These Creatures are told to be Creatures from Below. What kind of creatures are Creatures from Below, no-one knows for sure. Some say that at the bottom of these caverns you can find a new world. This is a world without a sky, it's roof is earth. Still, there is no evidence of this being true. Many Dwarves have spent thousands of years mining down, just to find this 'new world', but none have found it. Many Elves have followed the Winds of Magic for answers, but they haven't found it. Many Humans have bidden to their gods, asked them for help, and haven't got it. Still, some say they have. Some even say they come from this 'New World'. Almost everyone believes this 'New World' to be bullshit, but to those who do believe it exists, it's known as the Underdark.   When it comes to plateaus, Sky Peaks has Plenty. This is where Kahr Kingdom gains all it's food from. These plateaus go from small ones that are big enough for one farm, to plateaus of several kilometers. These big plateaus often hold towns or cities. These settlements are often Dwarven, but you can also find Elven cities, like Sillaslthyr, Human Cities and cities from other races. These cities often lie on the edge of a river, so they can trade, but they don't always. Even though many plateaus are used for food production, even more are just unexplored. There are many different races roaming these plateaus that have never been seen to any one of Dwarven- or mankind.   The biggest of these Plateaus, is a mystical Plateau called the Plateau of Life. According to many, it is a story told by fools. But according to Elves, it's a true story. On this Plateau, you can find an enormous tree; the Tree of Life. It is said to be holding a magical stone. This stone is a little like the SkyStone, but this stone doesn't hold the magical power of the Skies, it holds the magical power of life. According to myth, the Tree of life gives one fruit each year. this fruit will give you the power to live for another 100 years. These fruits are eaten by gods, to lengthen their lives. Eating one of these fruits will give you near immortality, but it will also give you allot of struggles; because all the gods will punish you for eating it. Around this enourmous tree, there is a densely packed forest. This forest got the name the Skycloud Forest. Through this forest flow streams and rivers of magical water, which are said to have healing powers. It also strengthens your powers in a way that you dream of it being strengthened. Many Scammers have said to have this water, which got known as Skycloud Water, but none really had it.   In of this forest grow all kinds of beasts and creatures. According to some, the Local Gods grew up here. That is why, according to them, the Gods are so strong. It would also explain why there is no god of life and no god has ever claimed to be a god of life. According to others, the five ancient beasts grew up in this forest: This forest gave them powers like nothing else had in the entire world. Until now, it's the only logical explanation for how these creatures are so strong, but it doesn't explain why gods aren't growing or losing their power over time, if they are able to drink this water.   You might be sitting here like; Why do elves believe this place exists? Well; here's your answer. Elves follow the winds of magic. Wood-Elves follow the winds of magic of life, which is the type of magic that the Tree of Life holds. Each wind of magic has to start somewhere, and they each start at three different locations. The winds of Magic of Life start at the Tree of life, Lorena and Morada. Morada and Lorena each are mystical forests filled with magical power flowing from the trees. Wood-Elves have been searching for the the third location where the winds start, but none have returned to tell a tale of finding it's start. Thanks to incredibaly Strong magical spells, Wood-Elves have found that it's location is in an enormous tree and all the other information above, but finding this out as a character would be an incredibly hard task. Wood-Elves aren't keen to share their secrets.   There are also allot of Caverns in Sky Peaks. Some are man-made, like the cavern of Kahr Zen, but some are natural. In these Caverns, you can find all kinds of species like bats and other creatures that live in the Dark. Some Caverns are inhabited by Dwarves, who have built enourmous cities there, but even more are just left empty. This is because either entering them is to hard or they don't have ground where you can build on. Another reason why they would be left empty is because there are extremely dangerous creatures there. Some say that you can find the Leragon Snake there. If you would ever meet this snake, run for your life, because there is no way you could survive. Some say you can find Dragons in these caverns. There have been rumors of someone seeing a dragon lately in one of these caverns, and if you do your best, you can find this person and hunt the dragon, but this will mean almost certain death. The biggest of these Caverns is the Eldrakahr Cavern. This is a Cavern that is so big, that it takes 5 days to travel through it, if you navigate correctly. You'd need to be really good in navigating if you want to travel through the Eldrakahr Cavern. This cavern is also seen as a holy ground by the Dwarves, being seen when entering or leaving this Cavern without permission will cost you your life. In this Cavern, you can find all kinds of temples to different gods praised by the Dwarves. Most of these temples are to Mesora, the god of the moon. These temples are one of the only places where Dwarven Munks are Trained.   There are also many Valleys and Canyons. These are blooming with life in every corner. Living in these Valleys is like living in paradise. The biggest of these Canyons is the RRelora Canyon. It flows from the North-East side of Sky Peaks into the Dunrreda Plains. This Canyon was named by Humans (Which is why it is RRelora and not Relora), and it on it's bottom you can find a river. This River has been flowing here for a long time, and it has dug into the ground for about 150ft. It hasn't gone down further, because Humans and Dwarves have been throwing in allot of sand and gravel to contradict the process of erosion. Both in and around the Canyon, there are loads of towns and cities; Some Elven, Some Dwarven and Some Human. There are also loads of entrances into different cave systems inside this Carvern. Walking around or resting in this cavern will have high chances of meeting someone, both good and bad. This means that what now is Sky Peaks, was once the bottom of the sea (just like the Himalayas in the real world).   Because the mountains are so high, it is filled with loads of water. According to some, in the middle of Sky Peaks, there is a drought. This is becuase when clouds hit mountains, they let go of a bit of their weight, in the form of rain, to be able to move over the mountains. When the clouds have come over the regions in the middle, all the rain has already fallen out. This makes that there is no rain in the middle of Sky Peaks. It also makes that there are small amounts of rain in the Silmar Desert. This is because most of the rain in Silmar comes from the Bay of Barmen, but if the clouds can't pass over the mountains, there is no way for the clouds to pass into the Silmar Desert. A long time ago it was possible through the Necrono Pass, but since then the Three towers of Necromandir were built here, and since then the dark magic has blocked any clouds from passing through. This made for an enormous drought all through the Silmar Desert, which turned it into a Desert.   There are many rivers flowing out of the mountains of Sky Peaks. The biggest three are the Dunrreda River, that flows through the Dunrreda Plains, The Great river, that flows through all that was once Timrrada, and the Breathless River, that flows through the Silmar Desert with it's high quantities of undead. The Great River is by far the biggest of these three. The Sky Peaks also border the Bay of Barmen. This gives for crazy beautiful views, from both the mountains and the Bay (Think Baykall).

Fauna & Flora

There are all kinds of creatures in Sky Peaks, from Dragons to Livestock, you can't find it all. Because if you could find it all, it would be filled to the brim with different animal species, and it would just be a mess. Instead of finding it all, you can find some of these species. Listing them all would take forever, but here is some information about some of the animals living in Sky Peaks.   You can find pretty much every of the 4 common intelligent species. Many Dwarves that live here are from Sky Peaks, but some have come here from other places. These Dwarves that have come from other places are not trusted by commonfolk, because Dwarves wouldn't leave their homeland unless they were exiled or have a really good reason (Which mostly includes something going terribly wrong). This is why Exiled Dwarves probably won't tell they're exiled, but you can notice that they are different than the other Dwarves in the area. Dwarves are the most common race that you can find here.   Next to Dwarves, you can also find Elves, Lizardfolk and Humans here. The Elves are mostly coming from Lorena or Floe. Still, Elves Live all around the globe, which means they can be found anywhere. Sea-Elves enter Sky Peaks from the south-west on the Bay of Barmen, searching for trade. Wood-Elves enter Sky Peaks from the north, coming from Lorena, searching for The Plateau of Life. High-Elves come from Cimar, Tempestar and Alfa Alani, searching for the Skystone and the Skystone Citadel. Common-Elves enter from Floe and Barma, searching for fortune. Other Common-Elves have Sky Peaks as their Homeland, living in Kahr Zen or other major cities in Sky Peaks. Dark-Elves enter Sky Peaks from the north and the south, from Calenora, city of darkness, and from the Silmar Desert.   When it comes to Humans; they're even more common. This is because Humans are commonly untrustworthy beings, searching only for their own sake and their own wealth. And when it comes to wealth, there is enough of it to be found in Sky Peaks. Over all, you can find allot of Humans everywhere, but especially in the Major Cities. Beside Dwarves, Humans and Elves, you have Lizardfolk as the fourth race of the 4 common races. Lizardfolk are the least common of the 4 common races in Sky Peaks. This is because mountainous areas are not the ideal climate for Lizardfolk. Still, you can find some Lizardfolk that have come from Lorena or Silmar Desert. When it comes to undead, they're not uncommon to find in Sky Peaks. This is because Sky Peaks border with the Silmar Desert, and undead commonly enter Sky Peaks. This is not because it's smart to enter, by no means, but because most undead who enter Sky Peaks are either very stupid or very foolish. None have returned to the Silmar Desert alive after entering Sky Peaks. This is because Sky Peaks have a magic power keeping all undead who enter to have to stay in side it's borders.   Of cource, you can find Greenskins in Sky Peaks. As is commonly known, wherever there is treasure, there are Greenskins. This is because Greenskins hunt for treasure. These Greenskins can be found all through Sky Peaks, but you are most likely to meat them around big roads and around major cities. This is because Greenskins probably live off raiding peolpe and stealing thier stuff. Greenskins are being hunted by the Kahr Kingdom, but there are way to many to all be killed. Most Greenskins in Sky Peaks work alone or in small packs, but some work in entire networks of clans and hunters.   The Legendary Creature in Sky Peaks is the Grelory. These are enormous catlike creatures with wings. These are most commonly seen ridden on by Elves, but even this is extremely uncommon. Until now, only one Dwarf has ever seen a wild Grelory and survived. This was Ramarado, and after seeing this Grelory, he became incredibly famous. No Human, Dwarf or by that point any other intelligent creature has ever seen a Grelory but Ramarado and Elves. An Elf who has been able to tame a Grelory, is seen as a really strong and respectable Elf. The Grelory are almost extinct, and the only way to find them is by searching Sky Peaks.   When it comes to plants, there are many different types of plants in Sky Peaks. As you can read in the part about Geography, you can find the Tree of life and the Skycloud Forest . More information about the plants and such will be written... someday... I hope...
