Already blind and mute from the violence of her past, she’s now forced to train as a gladiator aboard The Avalon—a ship that ferries the broken and unwilling to offworld bloodsport. She isn’t the only one under control: Vor, an alien warrior bred for combat, lives by the rules of ownership; and Dr. Kenzie, another Earthling, is tasked with keeping them alive long enough to fight again.
