Virtual Entertainment Experiences

Virtual Entertainment eXperiences, or vexes for short, are hot-sim VR recordings that viewers can not only view, but fully experience via the use of neural links and hardwire connection. In vexes viewers assume the role of the individual recording the vent experiencing the full simulation of all of the subject's senses and even, in the higher quality vexes, the subjects emotional state.
Invented by Haruki Komatsu of JansCorp in 3066, vexes offer everyone the chance to experience a life they never had. The poor can experience the emotions, the scents the tastes of life for the elite, the elite can feel the thrills and dangers of life on the edge outside of their safe bubbles.
While perhaps this was done with the best of intention, as humans are want to do, it quickly became corrupted and addictive. Wanna know what its like to have sex with your favorite movie star? Their partner has recorded it. Want to know what it's like to take another life? Combat soldiers, gangers and murdered make good money recording their experiences. Want to know what it's like to die? Vex studios offer millions to the families of death row inmates for recordings of their last seconds of life. Most of these hardcore vexes, more commonly referred to as veXXXes, are strictly illegal in most parts of the Delta.
