Cyberware

Thousands of years ago, on Old Terra medical prosthetics were the ancient ancestors of modern cybernetics. As technology advanced, and research into newer and more advanced computing technology was created, primitive prosthetics began to rise on advancement as well. Eventually, just before the advent of the First Wave, biotech (the integration of technology and biological organisms) and prosthetics reached a consensus.   Advanced mapping of the human nervous system and neural network, combined with the latest technology in robotics created a new form of prosthesis that responded to human thought with almost no lag. These new devices were functionally indistinguishable from regular limbs, higher end ones even came equipped with thermometric sensors and temp regulators that, between the two, matched the surface temperature of the devices with the body temperature of it's owner. This new fusion of medical prosthetic and robotics was called cybernetics.   As technology advanced and the use of cybernetics became more and more ubiquitous, far more advanced cybernetics were being developed. Gone were the days when cybernetics were just used to replace missing limbs. Soon there were cybernetic implants that could be imbedded directly into the users nervous system controlling or augmenting their actual organic matter. This was the final form that cybernetics would take, the blend of technology with living organic tissue. Better known as cyberware.
