The Endless

Before time there was nothing. A nothing so great that it consumed all that stood before it. Its very being fostered nonexistence, for that was its essence. Even after the ignition of Hael and Val, it still conquers much of the known universe. It has been called various names by people of all types, all of which share the same meaning. The great empty, the starless sea, the abyss. It is by essence endless, for while being is always finite, nonbeing is perpetually infinite. 
The Endless shares many traits with primal forces, but is their elemental opposite. It is not evil, just as they are not good. Nor does it have ends, designs, or desires, it simply fights to conform reality to that which it used to be. For while primal forces come and go, the Endless lives up to its name. Its power is corrosive by nature, eating away at the reality fostered by primal forces. Its strength is enough to swallow entire forces whole, before their acts of creation take root. Only two sufficiently balanced forces complimenting each other hold enough strength to hold the darkness at bay. Val and Hael are two such forces, managing to forge a world of being amidst the starless sea. 
Because of their duality, Val and Hael are able to hold off the effects of the Endless, but such a task is not easily done. Their creations can survive expose to the Endless, but this requires a stable and balanced input of both powers. Lack of either will eventually result in the creation's demise to the endless, disintegrated into the nothingness from which they came. The Endless does not know half measures or mercy, its only goal is to balance the universe once more into nonbeing and allow it to return to its eternal rest.
