Aitu Sera

Meaning, blood of fire, in ancient tongues, Aitu Sera is a hybrid type of Primordial Force that arises from the unity that Val and Hael share in fire. Aitu Sera was first discovered by Queen Berona as she and her alchemists sought a solution to the problem of the withering. They discovered a method to draw Val and Hael together under flame and unify them. For that is what Aitu Sera is, a unified form of Val and Hael, as well as proof that they are not opposites. It is the portion of their domain that they share, an overlap of order and chaos. For fire is of both order and chaos and when magical fire is made from Val and Hael at the same time, they unify. That is what Queen Berona and her alchemists discovered.
Aitu Sera has properties that make it a more muted intermediary of Val and Hael. It seeks for neither order nor chaos, it simply seeks existence. This makes it a lot less dangerous than theya re, but less powerful as well. Trending equally towards order and chaos, Aitu Sera most closely aligns with stagnation and slow decay. It is the fuel for a fire that does not grow, but instead slowly dies over hours. It is the smouldering embers of fire born from Val and Hael. This tendency for existence makes it the weapon that Queen Berona sought to hold off the endless, as relatively small amounts of Hael can produce vast amounts of Aitu Sera, but also ensures that it can never trully defeat it. For Aitu Sera never seeks impose its will on anything else, it simply seeks to retain everything as it is now.
Aitu Sera is created from the united burning of Val and Hael. The thing is, it requires relatively large amounts of both in order for the reaction to start. Amounts that cannot be reasonably found nor added to natural fuels. As such, there is only one realistic fuel source for its flames: sufficiently infused life forms. While many creatures qualify for this, the vast majority are incredibly rare. The only ones that are widespread enough to create the amounts of Aitu Sera required to fend off the endless are humans. This has led to the practice of the burnings in the promised lands, where criminals and other wrongdoers are put to the stake instead of being imprisoned, their bodies reduced to kindling for the world. This is also done to Vessels of Hael who have gone insane and monsters that stem from the Hael Wastes. When a subject is ignited, they are sorrounded in clouds of ambient Val to act as fuel alongside the Hael infused in their bodies. Once the ritual starts, a portion of the Hael in their bodies is burnt away alongside all of the Val alongside it to create quantities of Aitu Sera roughly equal to the combined amount of Val and Hael put into it.
When Queen Berona and her people crossed the Darkwall, they ignited three beacons on its slopes to try to provide enough Aitu Sera to stop the advance of the Endless from its pit in the depths of the womb of emergence. These beacons are powered by crystals taken from the mouth of mount Hael, the last ones in existence. Each beacon is sorrounded by many priests of Val who ensure that it has a constant supply of Val so that the reaction keeps going. These crystals have been burning for hundreds of years as they contain enormous amounts of Hael in them. To keep them going, large Hael monsters and powerful vessels often have their bodies burnt here. These Beacons are one of the main reasons that the promised lands have managed to keep the Endless at bay for as long as they have.
Over the years, the effectiveness of the burnings has decreased. This is due to a reduced quantity of Hael in the flesh of its subjects, being replaced by Aitu Sera as more and more of it makes its way into the world and replaces Hael. To counter this, more and more burnings take place every year. Despite this, the endless is gradually eating away at the barrier of Aitu Sera and making its way into the world.
