Way of the Brewing Storm
Monks of the Brewing Storm turn to nature and the sky as their teachers--for what is as universal as the sky over our heads, or the wind that cools our brow?
These monks take on traits of the sky, moving as light as a breeze, but with the force of a hurricane. The signature move of these monks is a devastating ranged assault--channeling ki energy to launch bolts of arcing lightning from their fists.
Beginning when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, the sheer speed and force of your strikes can generate sparks. The first time you hit a creature with an unarmed strike on each of your turns, you deal additional lightning damage equal to 1d8 + half your monk level.
Also at 3rd level, you learn to clap your hands together and create a thunderous sound that blasts your foes. You know the thunderclap cantrip, and can cast it at will. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
*Optional Homebrew: You can change out the thunderclap cantrip for any cantrip listed on this document that deals lightning or thunder damage.
Beginning at 6th level, you can arc ki energy between your fists for more potent attacks. When you damage a creature with your Sparking Blow feature, you can spend 2 ki points to deal an additional 2d8 lightning damage to the target.
At 11th level, you have become a battery for storm energy. You have resistance to lightning damage and thunder damage. Additionally, when you take lightning damage, you can use your reaction to absorb some of its voltage and regain a single ki point.
At 17th level, your strikes are so blisteringly fast that the sparks they generate jump from creature to creature. When you deal lightning damage to a creature with your Sparking Blow feature, you can choose up to two other creatures within 10 feet of the target, dealing the same amount of lightning damage to each. If you spend ki points to increase the damage of your Sparking Blow, this increase in damage applies to each creature you hit. Source: Book of Monastaries
