The Quaking

In the Year 3975 AC, the Quaking began. At first, it seemed as though it was simply the normal geological shifting which occasionally rocked the continent. Scientists and Sorcerers alike assured the public that nothing was amiss, it was simply the most recent occurrance of natural forces underlying the lands.
This, however, soon proved to not be the case after all.
Far from being a short-lived experience, the Quaking continued. It grew in intensity and frequency. Experts were baffled when the earthquakes increased in severity, frequency, and duration. What was originally a small disturbance, something which wasn't a concern and more an anecdote to tell others ("what was the quake like in Astoria?") it soon raised to devastating standards, destroying buildings and raising the death toll across the land.
Scientists and Sorcerers were baffled by the phenomenon. Even working together, they could not determine the source, how to mitigate it, or, more importantly, when it would end. Investigation of known fault lines showed no new movements. The new destruction actually occurred far away from the known fault points, further baffling geologists and geomages.
Just when the population began to wonder if this was the end of the world, if the quaking would destroy the very ground on which they stood, it stopped without a trace. Further investigation of the occurances yielded no further results.
There is talk among the priesthood that divine intervention caused the end of the Quaking, nearly six months after it began, but there is no evidence to prove this. In addition, Paladin of Annutai, Chiara Starri and her travelling companions, Deekin the lizardfolk and un unnamed male companion, were involved in the solution of the Quaking, but this has not been substantiated by those who are near to the adventurer.
Whatever the cause of the Quaking, we are certainly glad that it is now in the history books.
