The New Terran Mandate arose from the ashes of the core worlds of humanity. The centuries following the failure of all Psi-Tech in the Terran Mandate led to a system of industrial wastelands in the Sol system. The Terrans of the Sol system developed severe respiratory issues from the toxic air of Earth, Mars and Venus.
The Terrans, forced to don semi-permanent environment suits, and began to rebuild the old Human empire. Though the Terran Mandate would never be the same. Psychics and MES sufferers were treated with mistrust; being blamed for the downfall of Humanity's greatest empire. Eventually the New Terran Mandate declared all MES-ers enemies of the state and purged them from their empire. Thousands were killed, but many fled to the nearby sectors to escape the wrath of the New Terran Mandate.
They failed in their first attempt to reunify the Core Sector, and political and military speculators wonder when they will consolidate their forces and try again.
