05: Aboard the Artemis
General Summary
Graveyard of Giants
Major, Lu and Krieger stay aboard The Karma to attempt to patch it up. The rest of the crew descends into the derelict ship.
The crew attempts to search the space hulk, emblazoned with "The Artemis", for the missing crew of the Cryptic Dragon. They discover the vacuum mummified corpses of the centuries old crew of the Artemis. Many suffered psionic burn out, likely from the scream. Evidence of a firefight involving Spacers and Terran Marines was discovered.
The explorers discovered many terminals being rigged with power sources. There were many references to a "Project Atlas" pulled up on the terminals. A combatant was encountered on the bridge, a cyborg soldier with active camouflage, the party kills them. They discover nav data of many uncharted systems in the Core Sector, including the Artemis' pre-scream destination.
In the cold storage facility a brutal scene is discovered. Another dead cyborg, along with the rest of the Cryptic Dragon's crew massacred by a chainsword and rifle fire. A Terran Marine is also discovered to be wounded, and not dead. He had his arm severed off but is alive. The party takes him with them. He tells them that a group of cloakers left through a blasted hole in the wall with an item from cold storage.
The power cuts back on as the party moves through the living quarters. Solomon finds the Chief Engineer's data pad.
The party encounters a pre-tech security mech inert in the cargo bay. It begins its boot up sequence. The party locates a manual, as well as the control console for the mech. They use the captain's biometrics to unlock the console.
The mech begins to stir in the other room.
