Thay Allal

Thay Allal is the current nominal spokesman for the Phrygian Farmers' Union, which has no actual leader. Thay is a fifty year old farmer who manages a decent forty acres and a herd of semi-domesticated espron, who believes that everyone should be able to chip into the community a little more. He is opposed to punishment for any crimes that don't hurt anyone or that are performed out of necessity (theft due to hunger, for example), and has learned to masterfully control debate to make sure that people don't get punished if he feels they shouldn't. He knows that a codified set of laws will lead to all sorts of arbitrary punishments, and avoiding that was his primary reason for taking such an active role in political life.
He doesn't see eye to eye with the folks who want to ban synth mining completely, but Thay is good at making everyone feel comfortable, so even the more extreme members of the Farmer's Union support him. He is wary of The Aeon Priests of The Phrygian Sound, and worries that people would willingly turn their freedom over to the wizards (as he calls them) in exchange for the satisfaction of being ruled. He rarely voices these concerns out loud, but he often whispers them to make sure they're known.
