Phrygian Farmers' Union
The Farmer's Union is currently the largest and most powerful of Phrygia-by-the-Gap's two political factions, which would be meaningful if they had any goals to accomplish other than "don't change." They've heard too many stories of cities and nations to want anything like that for their Phrygia, and they've successfully managed to stop the implementation of change for years.
Ideologically opposed to involuntary taxes, to what they call "master-subject" relationships, and to unnecessary public spending, they prefer that everything be accomplished through voluntary participation, and to their credit, it seems to have worked. When something needs to happen communally, the union will appoint whips to go around and raise support for it. Most people roll their eyes when a whip comes, but they'll donate what's needed whether that be time, food, shins, or supplies. About half the fields and pastures are covered by fences, what little crime there is gets managed by consensus, and through hard work, nobody in the aldeia can really be considered "poor."
Most members of the union are concerned with synth mining in The Gap, especially now that its gone on so long. Several members of the faction want it banned outright before the miners dive too deeply and awaken some monstrosity or angry spirit in the prior world ruins that puts the entire community at risk, but most just want it moderated. This is one of the many issues that puts the Union at odds with the Phrygian Progress Association, and while they generally remain friendly and committed to the improvement of the community together, there is growing friction concerning what "improvement actually means.
