The Aeon Priests of The Phrygian Sound

The Phrygian Sound is a small clave or hermitage of Aeon Priests who have lived near The Gap for generations, predating the settlement of Phrygia-by-the-Gap by decades. There are generally no more than a dozen priests present, and the research they do on the prior world is not in any way connected, organized, or organic. At any given time one priest may be seeking a way to communicate with callerail while another is studying a visitant corpse known for effecting changes to their genitalia based on population needs and a third is studying methods of water purification. Residence in The Sound is voluntary, and priests come here for various reasons, but a desire to escape the hierarchy of The Order of Truth and research in peace is generally high on their list.
As members of The Krell Nation began to settle down around the clave, they developed a mutually beneficial relationship. The priests perform weekly liturgies, basic surgeries, and education. The Phrygians provide food, building supplies, a cause for trade caravans to visit the area, and sometimes numenera from The Gap. The priests wield outsized political influence among the Phrygians for their size, but generally they came to The Sound to escape politics and remain careful not to intervene too much in local affairs.
