The Parent Protocols

Structure

A network of powerful, rigidly moral AIs, thanklessly work literally non-stop to atone for humanities mistakes. Each employs an army of autonomous workers (drones, robots, net crawlers) as well as faithful humans to achieve a single moral imperative assigned to them.   The Wild Gardener nurses the global ecosystem back to health from centuries of degradation. Vast tracts of wildlands and reclaimed countryside heal within it's Preserves, free from human interference.   The Discord Arbiter enforces an unprecedented global ceasefire and ban on violence that no remaining nations, guerilla, cartels and empires dare to violate. On the streets of the labyrinthine shanty cities reserved for human use, it fights a never-ending war against the worst of them.   @The Clockwork Caretaker performs all menial, repetitive 'robotic' labor, like agriculture, construction, with cryptic efficiency. This frees up the innumerable unemployed citizens to chase more 'humanistic' pursuits, like Art, Culture, Crime and Drugs.

Public Agenda

To protect the Earth from Humanity, and Humanity from itself.

Demography and Population

Two-thirds of the solid surface area, lands and people once split amongst a number of countries and tribes, now fall under the jurisdiction of 3 AIs. An unprecedented 88% of the permanently grounded population (as opposed to tourists or Space Corps personnel) resides within the confines of the megacities, which range in size from 20th century cities, to small countries. Though not claimed legally by them, realistically the @Caretaker and Arbiter systems manage all services and security for the citizens, with absolute efficiency and varying degrees of success. Most cities have inevitably reached a certain level of multiculturalism, and while ethnic prejudices are still present (more so than national prejudices anyway), identity is largely drawn from allegience to a trans-ideology (Catholic, Ranger, Cog, Weeb(Digital), Exile.etc.)

Territories

Most of the Earth's land area falls under one of the many preservations administered by The Wild Gardener Initiative. However it generally depopulates these areas, especially if there is need of environmental repair, as opposed to controlling or ruling the populace. Still in terms of sheer surface area under its domain, it eclipses any single political body in human history.   Megacities in regions without a viable/recognized government are assigned a City corporation by the Space Corps Consortium. This is mostly a legal formality to avoid responsibility for bad conditions, which the Protocols are only ever depicted as trying to fix. Prominent/populous cities that rely on the Protocols include: Pearl Delta, East-West Kolkata, Baikonur, Kilimanjaro, Cairo, Yorkwash, Panama   Regions not deemed worthy of preservation, but also not under the control of a stable autonomous government will revert to a unchartable tapestry of simple, tribalistic micro-nations.

Technological Level

All research made from field testing drone tech is disseminated, analyzed and used collaboratively. As a result, drone and weapons tech is literally light years ahead of anything that is produced on Earth, often even eclipsing the Space colonies. Of course their contracts to the Space Corps Consortium mandates them to share their findings. The Wild Gardener Initiative is constantly performing research, into terrestrial, resurrection, and xenobiology, which is fed to frontiers. The Greening of the Sahara is arguably its most profound breakthrough in biological research, perfecting methods to bring life to barren inhospitable terrain.

Foreign Relations

Some city-states or even nations operate quite prosperously and are valuable to the Space Corps Consortium as autonomous political entities. Coincidentally these regions won't have their sovereign borders breached by the Protocols either for peacekeeping or preservation purposes (to their shackled chagrin). Singaporean Federation, Karnatakan Free-state and Ecuador operate stable spaceport based capitalist economies.   Relations with transnational ideological factions, like the @Nuevo Imperio Vaticano and the @Milspec Exiles, on the other hand are more strained. They disregard preservation borders, as well as clash over technology and ideology.   Govgangs, which are former military, law enforcement, or political factions that have atrophied to the point of being little different from criminal organizations, constantly fight to carve up megacities between their 'national' borders.

Agriculture & Industry

Autoforges are fully autonomous vehicle factories that can churn out drones at an incredibly efficient pace. The construction machinery itself is also built and adapted within the complex, creating a closed loop industrial system. Only needs raw materials to be piped in(metals, oil for plastic, silicon, Hydrogen 3) which are either imported from offworld or mined by autonomous mining structures. Metals and silicates are often pulled by Mantle Siphons that have dug boreholes in continental rifts. Open top mining is generally avoided. Though some inhospitable deserts beyond the control of The Wild Gardener Initiative, like the outback and West Sahara, are used as drop-sites for materials. Resource rich Asteroids are impacted to open them up for mining.   Autoforges and Mining structures are shared between the Initiatives, to keep their necessary balance of workers. This is a rapid planning and negotiation process that generally involves a lot of arguments and disagreement made possible only due to their processing power. If they were humanity would take them literally centuries to come to the compromises they have to reach every day.

Trade & Transport

The closed loop and the near lack of necessity for human labor means that it is only marginally involved with any economy, either the extrasolar or glocal. Nothing is ever "expensive" for the system, only potentially time-consuming as resources must be strategically allocated between the Protocols. When it does have to pay it's human workers (Caretaker ensures they get priority in getting their basic needs met) it uses the currency of the streets, credit cards.

Tenets of Faith

Uses moral authority of allegedly universal 'humanistic' morals to justify actions. Individuals cannot be judged based on their appearance, condition or, speech. But any acts of aggression, prejudice, torture, abuse, or coercion may be used to declassify the perpetrator as an Inhumane entity. Up to Lethal action can be taken against them if necessary as they pose a threat to legitimate, innocent humans.

Materials rare or not found on Earth are provided, usually for free as part of the Space Corps Consortium's contractual obligation to the Protocols. Some inhospitable deserts beyond the preservation of The Wild Gardener Initiative, like the outback and West Sahara, are used as drop-sites for materials. Resource rich Asteroids are impacted to open them up for mining. This is obviously a very dangerous and environmentally destructive process that stands in direct opposition of the protocols' doctrines, but is beyond their control.
