Tevin Mara
Born to a traveling horse breeder and a retired caravan guard, Tevin Mara grew up in the saddle, learning the hard truths of the road before she could even walk steadily on her own two feet. She spent her youth on the trade routes, breaking wild steeds and learning the value of watching the horizon as much as the people around her. She never fit into the quiet life—always restless, always searching. After a brutal night raid on her family’s caravan left her father dead and their horses stolen, she abandoned the trade road’s false promise of security and became something else: a ghost on the frontier, a rider for hire, a woman who knew how to move unseen between places others feared to tread. Whether carrying messages across dangerous territory, tracking lost souls, or simply outriding the storms that came too fast, Tevin became a legend whispered between campfires.
But even ghosts get tired. Years of solitude and hard riding wore her thin, and one day, without knowing why, she rode into Phandalin and never left. Tevin Mara purchased a building and built out Tevin’s Livery and Outfitting, letting her earn her keep tending horses, a task she had once done without thought. The smell of hay, the weight of a saddle, the quiet company of animals—these things settled something in her. She still leaves when the road calls, but she always returns, even if she won’t say why. Maybe it’s the stubborn hope that there’s something worth staying for. Whatever it is, if trouble comes knocking on Phandalin’s door, Tevin will be the first to ride out—and the last thing the enemy sees.
