Orbaz the Spectator
Orbaz the Spectator was summoned over 300 years ago by the human mage Lorrin Thorne, a master enchanter working at the Forge of Spells. Tasked with protecting the forge and its magical treasures, Orbaz was bound by Lorrin to remain in the cave indefinitely, guarding the area from any intruders. The Spectator, loyal to its duty, took great pride in its role, seeing the forge as a sacred place of immense importance.
During the invasion that destroyed Wave Echo Cave, Orbaz fiercely defended the forge, obliterating many enemies with its powerful eye rays. However, despite its efforts, the invading army overwhelmed the defenders, and Lorrin Thorne was killed in the chaos. With its summoner gone, Orbaz continued its eternal vigil, unaware of the passage of time or the collapse of the mine’s society. To the Spectator, the forge still needed protecting, and it remained ever watchful.
Over the centuries, Orbaz became increasingly isolated and paranoid, convinced that even the slightest disturbance posed a threat to the forge. Left alone in the cavern, the Spectator often “talked” to itself, simulating the voice of its long-dead master, Lorrin. Orbaz’s purpose remained unchanged, eternally guarding the now-forgotten Forge of Spells, unable to understand that its duty was no longer needed.
