Krix the Tinkerer
Krix the Tinkerer is a Senior Artificer at the Waterdeep Artificer’s Guild, though anyone who knows him will tell you he’s more often found tinkering aboard his cluttered houseboat moored in the Dock Ward. A clever goblin with a sharp tongue and sharper mind, Krix rose from the alleys of Skullport to become one of the city’s most inventive magical engineers. Though the Guild respects his talents, his erratic hours and disdain for formal protocol keep him on the fringes of its politics. His houseboat, affectionately dubbed the Rivet Rat, is a floating workshop of arcane oddities and half-finished constructs, where kettle gears bubble beside sea charts inked with glowing glyphs.
Despite his rough beginnings, Krix has a deep hunger for knowledge—especially the kind others fear to uncover. Recently, he’s become obsessed with the mystery of the Argent Sentinel, an arcane entity rumored to have vanished into the deepest layers of Waterdeep’s undercity. Krix believes the Sentinel may hold the key to unlocking a network of ancient magical infrastructure buried beneath the city. He’s following a trail of disrupted enchantments, Guild cover-ups, and flickering signals only he seems to notice—piecing together a conspiracy that could shake the foundations of the city and the Guild that once doubted him.
