Durgrin Ironkeel
Durgrin Ironkeel is a stout and weathered Dwarven mason, a master of stonecraft whose name is spoken with admiration in the growing town of Phandalin. Born into a long line of stonemasons from the Ironkeel Clan, Durgrin learned his craft at the knee of his father, shaping granite and marble long before he could swing an axe. His hands, thick with calluses and strength, have built bridges, fortresses, and halls across the Sword Coast, but he takes special pride in shaping Phandalin’s future. Tasked with constructing the town’s first proper bank, he works with unyielding precision, ensuring every stone is placed with care, every arch is balanced, and every pillar will stand for generations. Though the work is demanding, he welcomes the challenge—a sturdy foundation, after all, is what separates lasting legacies from forgotten ruins.
Durgrin is gruff but fair, a dwarf of few wasted words and even fewer wasted stones. His salt-and-pepper beard is always dusted with fine stone grit, and his leather apron bears the scars of countless chisels and hammers. He is not easily impressed, and he has little patience for shortcuts or shoddy workmanship—traits that have earned him both respect and exasperation from his workers. Despite his blunt nature, he is loyal to the bone and believes that hard work and strong walls make a town worth defending. With every strike of his hammer, he is not just building a bank—he is laying the groundwork for Phandalin’s future, one stone at a time.
