To protect themselves from the advances of vengeful Ironfurs, the Imperial Remnant dumped a terrible amount of junk between Um'Kala and Krakalakan.
This massive wall of trash has become the defacto scrapyards of Nar Shaddaa, with junk dealers carving out spaces to call their own over the years. Some junkyards are organized, built up enough that there are ways through the trash all the way to the Krakalakan, and some are just fenced in sections of the scrap that charge some credits to any enterprising salvager trying to get in.
