Gaur the Blade Character in The Outer Reaches | World Anvil

Gaur the Blade

Hundreds of years ago, the Galactic Republic outlawed the use of the term “Monstrous Species” to describe any member of certain species whose appearances seemed unsettling to many of the more “aesthetically pleasing” species. Among the list of species commonly referred to as "Monstrous" - with Gamorrians topping the list - are the Devaronians. Despite this injuncture of politeness, however, Devaronians have always found themselves set apart from many of the other races in the Galactic Community - their coincidental appearance to many species’ mythological or religious forces of “evil” likely the primary reason. Gaur, like most Devaronians, has leveraged this reputation - and his almost hostile appearance - to great use in the undertowers and lower levels of Nar Shaddaa.   His father brought him to the Smuggler’s Moon at a young age, and never once showed much of a nurturing nature. As such, Gaur has scraped together his own life, and his own views of life, with his own clawed hands. And he is more than willing - and quite capable - to eliminate any perceived threat against what few comforts he has achieved for himself. In that list he includes his “friends”, although he certainly uses the Devaronian sense of the word, with perhaps the closer translation to Galactic Basic being “co-conspirators”. As he approaches the end of what Devaronians consider “youth”, he’s started to wonder if he should return home, perhaps find a mate - but for now, he is contented to gaining every credit he can, by any means, so that if he does decide to return…   He’ll do so in style.
