Ground Zero

Antimony ran her fingers along the wall, memorizing all the little imperfections in the concrete. She pulled her hand back to her chest before turning to the man in front of her.   "There's not as much graffiti over here, huh?" She asked. Promethium stopped walking for a moment. He gave a languid glance over the wall.   "Yeah, s'like, people are scared of this place," Promethium mumbled, "like, if they come here they'll taint it or something." He shoved his hands in his pockets.   "It's bullshit if you ask me. There's nothing left to corrupt. That piece of shit putrefies everything she touches." Promethium growled as he scratched at his skin. Antimony touched his shoulder. He stopped to look at her. She gave a hesitant smile. Promethium chuckled. He ruffled the girl's hair affectionately. Antimony let her eyes fall shut, focusing on the scarred fingers gently scratching at her scalp. She was a bit disappointed when they left. She looked back up at Promethium. While she couldn't see his mouth, his eyes crinkled like he was smiling.   "You're a sweet kid, y'know?" Promethium murmured. Antimony felt her face heat up. Promethium turned to continue walking down the hall.   "If you're not careful that'll come back to bite you in the ass!" He called over his shoulder. Antimony jogged to catch up with him.   "Besides," he said, malice evident in his voice, "it's not like I have to wait much longer before I can watch her suffer too."

Architecture

Ground Zero is an abandoned industrial complex, made mostly of concrete and metal. Nowadays, the walls are covered in graffiti, and the floors are filled with assorted garbage and the scarce belongings of its inhabitants.

History

During the early days of E.E., when it was nothing more than a handful of overenthusiastic young adults with big plans, they needed a base of operations. One young man suggested that they use an abandoned factory near his childhood home. This would later be known as Ground Zero.   As the E.E. movement grew and matured, so did its members. Many of them were homeless, and decided to inhabit the empty warehouses around the complex, finding them significantly dryer and safer then the places they lived in before. Unfortunately, new members also brought unwanted publicity.   On the fifteenth of November, the facility was attacked. One of the attackers was able to infect the facility with a genetically modified strain of necrotizing fasciitis. This specific infection was highly contagious and fast acting, causing immediate necrosis upon contact. The intruders left soon after the infection started, leaving the facility in chaos.
