Luraun (/'lu:.rɔn/)

Luraun, of the Anjendan tideriders, was named fleet captain of the Grand Adventure.  Although she did not survive the epidemic that struck near the end of her second voyage, she gave birth to a daughter who did.

The detailed logs that she kept on the two voyages are being used now to study the current and wind conditions of the North Gap, as well as determine what illness killed 80% of the fleet's crew.

Motivation

Luraun had hopes of following her mother as Mother Captain, and saw the expedition as her best chance to prove her ability.  During the first crossing she discovered she was pregnant, but didn't tell Connu for fear of being removed from command.

Family Ties

Luraun was Connu's oldest daughter.  Tiree is a matrilineal great-granddaughter.
