Carren of Rizelia is a High Elf sorcerer and became part of the Danger Strangers after being recruited to collect the deed in Barovia. He is generally kind of heart, often doing what is right. However, if driven into a corner he is quick to flee.

General Physical Condition

Not very agile, preferring the use of magic if possible to avoid regular running or movement across hard land.

Right hand being his most dominant hand. Special tics being unexpected town fire, a reminder of the past. Prefers to walk slowly in foreign areas, wary of his surroundings.

Personal history

Coming from a small village called Rizelia , Carren has always been considered an outsider due to being the only Elf in the village alongside his mother. He never knew much about his father. As the years went by, he learned to more or less fend for himself, ending up with the ability to cast magic helping a lot when it came to that. In the end, what he wanted most was to try to improve on his abilities and research more into the magic of being a Sorcerer and see if he can improve on his innate ability.This has taken him to many places around the world of which many end up being either pleasant or dangerous, sometimes both. In his many years of journey, he ended up in Wittering and not being scared of going on a quest (which could prove to be lucrative as well), he ended up embarking on a ship with some fellow adventures that he met in the hopes of learning more ways that he could make use of his magic.

He has grown fond of a few human women, but chooses to not pursue any due to preferring to just keep himself to his magic.

Education

Most of his education came from learning things along his travels in the land of Humans, being of an inquisitive nature, he would always ask regarding things he's unfamiliar with and try to learn as much as he possibly can, due to his firm belief of knowledge being equal to power. Due to that, however, it has lead to issues regarding his speech, being very un-elven-like, picking up many manners of speaking from sailors and other common humans.

Has completed various tasks for common people and helped many adventurers along his travels resulting in quite lucrative past 'employment'.

Currently does not have any major accomplishments or achievements.

Failures & Embarrassments

Thirty years ago spent his time with an adventuring group in the past that met a Lich. He convinced them they can handle it, but in the end the Lich overpowered them and only by some type of miracle only Carren and one other member of the group survived. Carren got blamed for the whole thing. He has yet to forgive himself for it and tries to make amends with his actions by trying to help others. Meeting the Sleeping Bandits was what he took as a sign that he could maybe make amends for his previous mistake by trying to help them out on their quest.

Mental Trauma

He went to visit his village and his mother when he was 56 years old and instead just came back to a recently burned down ruin. Eventually he managed to find the culprits (orc bandits) and proceeded to turn them into frozen statues. It took him a long time to stop blaming himself for not being there in time to save his mother.

His best friend is a dwarf banker called Carlos in the city of Wittering. It's the only person that Carren has told of his past, with their relationship starting originally from when Carren wanted to have a safe spot to treasure his gold in, resulting in him venturing to Wittering and then stumbling upon an unfair bar fight which Carlos was in. Carren attempted to help him out, which just ended up with both of them getting their asses beat up due to Carren not wanting to use his magic in a city bar fight.

Carren can be quite charismatic when meeting new people, always trying to see the good in people and trying to relate to their issues if they're having any. That does not come without its flaws however, resulting in him being overly trusting of new people that he encounters, which can end up in him being used for it. He also has a bit of an ego when it comes to manners involving spell casting due to having spent most of his adult life in trying to find answers regarding how it works and how to best utilize it. When it comes to helping out people, Carren would always try to be on the side of the people in need, sometimes that ending up putting himself and other people with him in great jeopardy. If Carren feels that he gets backed into a corner during a conversation, he can make rash decisions.

He tends to move his hands a lot when speaking. If he starts thinking that he might be getting threatened, he can get aggressive and make rash decisions.

Carren has a bengal cat in his house in The Wittering. His friend, Carlos, looks after it when he's not there.

Speech

Speaks in a high pitched tone with a what some would say sailor-ish type of dialect which includes a lot of swearing and just very casual way of speaking. He likes to compliment people when they've done something good. If someone does something that he deems stupid, he generally does not hold back in his reaction and can get aggressive. He has a very human-like way of speaking, and would generally shock people with his manner of speech.
