Session #22
General Summary
The party awakens at the inn in Ballarad and discovers the Jade Colossus has disappeared as mysterious as it appeared! Throughout the town the group notices many new people fleeing villages further north. The constable of Ballarad asks for help solving the murder of the librarian.
After an investigation revealing unusual slashing claw marks and a datapad with the partial word “Leviat”, the group heads to Tarral, an expert animal tracker for more information. Tarral suggests shiverns might be responsible, and is about to explain further when all light suddenly vanishes and the shiverns attack in the unlightable darkness!
After a difficult fight, the group discovers each shivern is adorned with a belt bearing the stamp “Lt. Slade”. Tarral is surprised the shiverns could be so coordinated and warns of their danger if they could be controlled. The group then decides to investigate the villages to the north whose fleeing inhabitants describe attacks sounding suspiciously like shiverns.
The party came upon an empty village with a large tree in the center. For some reason, Spensa felt compelled to go to the tree and lay down for a nap. When the rest of the group drew near, they were horrified to see thousands of tiny roots coming from the tree into Spensa’s head. It was not a tree at all but a Dreamsallow!
Realizing Spensa’s consciousness was now lost in the Dreamsallow, Ephyra and Kae willing lay down and allowed the dreamsallow’s roots to enter their minds. Once inside, they found a very disturbed Spensa, who by now realized something was very wrong.
Spin, Kae, and Ephyra met with the guardion of the dreamsallow, and eventually persuaded her to release their minds. Finally back in the real world, the party then burned down the dreamsallow and then proceeded to camp and rest from their various injuries of the day.
