Rocira

Rociras have a reputation for wreaking horrible havoc, laying waste, and destroying entire cities in a single swarm. The sound of their loud and constant chirruping, caused by their multiwinged flight, has become synonymous in many people’s minds with impending disaster.

In truth, rocira swarms are merely the harbingers for destruction. Arriving anywhere from a few hours to a few days before disaster strikes, rociras are the proverbial canaries in the coalmine. How do they know what’s going to happen? Are the rociras attempting to warn the creatures in the area? Do they feed from the devastation? Are they mere spectators to a potential world-changing event? No one knows. However, they rarely stay once the event begins, and they never get involved. With four sets of translucent wings (growing up to 3 feet [0.9 m] long) carrying their fist-sized bodies, rociras can cover long distances at great speeds.
