Llaric Scorpion

Although it’s called a scorpion, this massive creature is actually an amblypygid and has no traditional stinging tail that its name would suggest. In adulthood, it measures 5 feet (1.5 m) long. It has six legs for locomotion, plus 12- to 15-foot (3.7 to 4.6 m) whiplike forelegs that it uses as sensory organs. A deadly hunter, the creature preys on reptiles and mammals.

Perhaps stranger, however, is the music that the llaric scorpion makes. By blowing air out the spiracles in its legs, it produces an eerie fluting sound. This piping allows it to attract others of its kind from a distance and send other simple messages, such as a territorial warning. The music also disrupts the mental processes of humans and many other intelligent creatures. Those that hear it might lose their short-term memory, have their senses altered, lose their senses completely, or undergo strange and immediate behavioral changes. The effects vary from individual to individual.
