Yellow Serpents

I began working as an assassin for the Yellow Serpents about 2 years ago, and left a year ago. I regret being an assassin and don't want the rest of the group to know. Cassandra and Tidran are the only PCs who know about this.

Mykah

Mykah is a level 3 NPC who grew up in the same village as Dariyana (Dronval). He began training to defend the village under Dariyana’s leadership at the age of 15, about a year before Dariyana left. His primary weapon is a sword. He had a lot of respect for Dariyana as a leader, and was disappointed when she left.   About 6 months ago the people of Dronval, and their goats, were forced to flee the mountains. They were having more and more frequent attacks from nearby creatures such as margr and chirog, and no longer had enough soldiers to fight them off. They travelled down the mountain range, with their remaining herd of mountain goats, and settled near a town at the base of the mountains, north of Curtaris. The people in the town were wary of the newcomers at first, but have come to trust them, and depend on the protection that the remaining soldiers provide. The goat herders of Dronval traded goats with the people from the nearby town, and several others passing through the area.   Now that there were no longer constant threats of attack, Mykah decided to head out on his own and explore. While at the inn in Northam, the Innkeeper noticed that he had the same emblem on his sword that another warrior, who had just left there weeks before, had on her bow. Mykah realized that this must be Dariyana, and asked the Innkeeper if he knew where she had headed. The innkeeper said he wasn’t sure, but thought that she might have headed towards a settlement called Beyonder’s Blades, and told him how to get there. Mykah stayed at the inn for the night, and set out for Beyonder’s Blades in the morning.

Backstory

Dariyana is a Rugged Glaive who fights with a Horde. She grew up in a small village on the Black Riage. As a child, she always beat everyone else at archery, but never fully let her abilities show, as she did not want to stick out. At the age of 10, her village fully discovered her inborn abilities as a fighter when her village was attacked by a tribe of margr. Her father ordered her to stay home, but she snuck off to join the battle. Using her bow and arrow, she defeated many of the margr. Although she stayed on the edge of the battle, her talent was noticed by several, and after the battle the village quickly decided that she should be trained as a soldier. The village had been suffering frequent attacks from margr and other savage species, and needed strong warriors.   She fought for the village for many years, developing her skill as an archer in both speed and accuracy. Although she usually carries a sword for back up, she prefers using the bow as both a short and long range weapon. She is able to fire an arrow quickly enough to use as a short range weapon, and is able to shoot accurately farther than most. At the age of 26 she decided to venture off on her own. Although she is interested in adventure, after fighting for most of her life, she is somewhat burnt out, and not eager to jump into a fight unless she deems it worth her time and effort. She uses her skills when necessary, but does not plan to rush into battle. One day, she heard of a battle in Northam, but by the time she got there, the battle was over. She heard of a settlement nearby called Beyonders Blades, and thought about checking it out after resting at one of the local inns. To avoid questions from the “normal people” about the multiple scars she has acquired throughout the years (although the scar going diagonally across her face was hard to hide), she hid under a cloak and sat in the corner. While there, she overheard a man named Sih’Teel bragging about his adventures. The boring locals seemed to be enthralled with him, although Dariyana could not understand why. He did not seem like the kind of man who would be able to survive even a tenth of the adventures that he described. As she rolled her eyes at him from the corner, she heard him say that he was headed to Beyonders Bladed, and debated about whether she wanted to be in the same settlement as such a dandy. Afterall, she grew up on the Black Riage, and was used to fighting alongside people who understood real danger. She decided to keep her ears open for news of the settlement, but not to go there immediately. She became increasingly interested after hearing more and more reports of assassins attacking. After hearing about the Black Phoenix, she decided to go to the settlement, and arrived shortly after the group had left. While she debated about chasing after them, she was not too keen to run after a battle with people she did not know, and decided to wait at the settlement.
