The Nine Realms

Year 167 of the 4th Era, 21st day of Summersend.

Created by

When the Universe was created, what now are Nine Realms and countless Shattered Realms, was once one whole. The Sole Realm was a land of indescribable grandeur, with kingdoms and empires spanning entire continents. It was all ruled by one enlightened Entity; The Fireborn. Known as Creation Incarnate, the Fireborn was charged by the universe to guide and maintain balance within itself, in exchange for True Immortality. The Fireborn had ruled since Time immemorial, when the mountains were small bumps in a road, raging rivers were no more than a trickle of water, and when the Land was made of fire and brimstone.   As the Fireborn persisted, they became paranoid. They feared that someone, someday, would try and usurp them and that they would die. The Universe had even told them, "Your Throne is yours until it is not." Thus, the Fireborn ultimately granted mortals Lordship/godhood for embodying concepts and ideas. One of such Mortals was known as the Great Dragon, a mortal who conquered his way to becoming a King over a Thousand Kings. For his endeavors, The Fireborn named him God of War, and commanded him to destroy his enemies. As Time passed, these "enemies" went from a few rival kings, to entire empires and continents. Trillions died, and trillions more perished with every passing day.   Among the survivors, Six stood, tall and defiant, and called upon others to aid them in a global war against the Fireborn. These six, were Kendra, or Drakaris; Hrothmund, or Cayden; Elvira, or Ingemar; Casimir, or Joldr; Favian, or Cianus; and Adaliah, who was the Daughter of the Great Dragon.   The Six waged war upon the Fireborn, and swore oaths to each other to never fall in battle so long as the Fireborn lived. Needless to say, the Six defeated and usurped the Fireborn, Hrothmund striking the final blow and Adaliah taking the mantle of Creation Incarnate. Over the course of the war, the Six were all granted with paracausality- the ability to change fate- and Partial Immortality. This allowed them to usurp those chosen by the Fireborn to rule as Gods. All six triumphed in mantling and erasing their predecessors names from history, granting them their power and True Immortality. Hrothmund became the God of War, Elvira became the Goddess of Thunder, Favian became the God of Reality. Casimir became the God of Balance, and Adaliah, became the Goddess of Time. Kendra took it upon herself to become Balance Incarnate, and thus ceased to exist within the mortal plane.   To protect those from conquerors and tyrants with power over creation like the Fireborn and the Great Dragon, Hrothmund, with the aid of his allies and the spirit of Kendra, tore apart the fabric of reality in a thousand places, creating individual realms for themselves and countless others to exist without the threat of being killed and unmade by those capable of unmaking them with an utterance of a word. This act, known as the Separation, was thought to be the last time that the Realms would encounter one another.
How mistaken they were...
In reality, these realms were never truly going to wander eternally in the blackness. Instead, the universe decided to chain them all to a physical manifestation of the realms True Nature. This place is called Primordia, and the bonds that hold the realms in place are the Chains of Primordia. Every 6000 years, these chains are pulled taut and then drawn back towards the center, the realms colliding. This is called a Convergence, where the Realms are forced to profess the Universal Law of the Sword against each other, to decide who shall shall live long enough to see the End of Days. This was often decided by who rose to Lordship- a form of semi-godhood- and defeated other realms or defended their own until the conclusion of the Convergence. Since the Separation, a total of four Convergences have occured, each time the number of realms dwindling down, now numbering only Nine. On the verge of the Fifth Convergence, many believe that it will the last, where the victorious shall enjoy splendor beyond compare in the End of Days.
Let us see, shall we?
