A Watcher Visits Again

One particular Watcher, disobeying the others, swims closer to the Nightlight Zone, and spies on a nomadic band of Cave Stalkers. Not being taught by their ancestors about the Watchers, the group draws closer and speaks with the being. The Watcher then proceeds to give them their own animals to control, which the Cave Stalkers then use to plunder other nomadic bands.

After the destruction of the Cave Stalker civilization, the Watchers merely watched from afar as the Cave Stalkers developed their modern way of life. Eventually, one of them presumably got bored with only watching their creations, and deciding to interact with them, like it had done thousands of years before. It began by swimming through the Pits, hoping a band of Cave Stalkers would see it. Soon, one did, and immediately became timid of the being when the two parties first saw each other.

The Watcher spoke with them, convincing them it was not a threat. Then, the Watcher spoke about their struggles in the wild, and offered them help. The Watcher gave the group large animals that it created itself, which the Cave Stalkers could use to help them on their journeys. The Cave Stalkers found that the animals would do anything they wanted them to, and at first they used them to hunt large game, while the Watcher retreated to the Border to watch over them.

Eventually, this band started using their animals to raid camps of other Cave Stalkers, stealing any resource they found useful. These bands tried defending themselves as best as they could, but the families were inevitably separated after the raids. Soon, other bands began hearing about the "raiders with the tamed animals," and began hiding in concentrated areas for protection. After some time, a rather large nomadic band began warring with the raiders, able to best them after they were crippled by a quake. The raiders then disappeared, quickly forgotten by the species. It is currently unknown how the other Watchers reacted to this event, or how the one particular Watcher faired after the conflict ended.
