The Nightlight Zone

Most may be familiar with at least some of the Earth's oceans, and just some of the secrets they hold. There's the Sunlight Zone, where plants grow and biodiversity is abundant, and where humans love to go for a swim. Then, there's the Twilight Zone where it gets darker, plants stop growing, and the animals start to get stranger. The ocean only gets deeper from here, and the deeper one goes, the more twisted things get.

After the Twilight Zone is the Midnight Zone, where sunlight virtually disappears, and enormous creatures live and battle for supremacy. Going deeper, there's the Abyssal Zone, where life has developed special means of conserving energy down where there's even less light. Finally, there's the Hadal Zone, an even darker expanse of water where only the most adaptable of lifeforms can survive.

But there is one other place in the ocean, known only to some as the xenopelagic, or "The Nightlight Zone." Here, most of the laws of our world are non-existent, proven by the fact that the only way to get there is from an obscure urban legend. The creatures that live in these waters also bend several laws of nature. They are unnaturally strong, fast, and defy our imaginations. They have lived in dark, static environments for as long as they can remember, and most don't take kindly to outsiders. Few people that have been down here have ever made it back to the surface in once piece. But, we have still been able to learn plenty about them nonetheless.
